My Million Dollar Question
Lord, what did You have in mind when You made me?
That’s the "million-dollar question" most people spend their whole lives avoiding. When you ask God, "What did You have in mind when You made me?" you aren't just asking for a job description—you're asking for the "Why" behind your existence.
Here is a deeper breakdown of how to process that question.
The Three Layers of the "Why"
1. The Universal Design (To be a Son/Daughter) Before God ever asks you to do something, He designed you to be something. His first intent was for you to be in a relationship with Him.
-
The Truth: You weren't made to be a "servant" or a "cog in a machine." You were made to be a son or a daughter. If you never did another "task" in your life, you would still be fulfilling His primary intent just by walking with Him.
-
2. The Unique "Bent" (Your Natural Wiring) Think about the things that bother you more than they bother other people. Do you hate seeing people treated unfairly? Do you have a drive to build things that last? Do you feel a need to protect the vulnerable?
-
The Truth: That "inner fire" isn't an accident. God "bent" your heart in a certain direction because He intended for you to solve specific problems in the world around you.
-
3. The "Good Works" (Your Daily Assignment) God intended for you to be His "hands and feet" in places a preacher or a book will never reach. Whether you are in a shop, an office, or at a kitchen table, you are there to bring His order, His peace, and His truth into that space.
-
The Truth: Living as God intended usually looks like doing "ordinary" things with "extraordinary" integrity.
